How I embraced change

by ANNE DUNNETT on AUGUST 13, 2013

Welcome to my new website! Many changes have been in the works for me over the past six months. With what seemed fearful and somewhat overwhelming at the beginning, has been transformed into a new passion and excitement for the future. Stepping out of my comfort zone and embracing change is what I've taken on to learn and grow both personally and professionally. Finding my purpose has been a personal mission that has come together in a way that I never thought was possible. Over the years of working as a graphic designer I'd never had the knowledge or trust in knowing how to sell and market myself in a way that worked for me and my clients. I've always believed that my work spoke for itself and I didn't need to sell myself too much, which did work for some time. But, with the changes with marketing and technology, I was finding that my old ways of doing things weren't working. Over the past three to four years I've been doing the same thing and getting the same results with spinning my wheels and not moving forward in the way I'd like. Being stuck in a place that was not fulfilling or inspirational, left me frustrated and unsure of what to do next. An inner conflict with wanting to write haiku, a love of design and creating collages is what I love. How can I possibly do it all? On top of all the changes within my industry with social media and web design, I knew I needed to take the opportunity to re-invent myself and learn how to use my talents and skills in new ways to inspire and help people.

While attending a social media workshop last Winter, I had a huge breakthrough and a realization on how to bring all of the things that I love together. This was the light bulb moment I'd been waiting for so long that helped me to see that the foundation of my personal/spiritual beliefs and my design approach is based on Zen philosophy. It was a pivotal point that made everything I'd been striving for become crystal clear. How it also connected to the simplicity of haiku allowed me to experience a real sense of wholeness. My re-brand was under way and my excitement of this new discovery had inspired me. I worked with Andrea Shillington from Brands for the People (whom I am very thankful to) which was an amazing way to get started. I embraced the changes within my industry and began to learn how to better serve my clients. Once I got clear with my new brand I began to work on marketing with Michela Quilici of QConsulting (whom I am very, very thankful to as well), she really got me digging deep with everything. It's been an incredible time and I'm thrilled to have found a place in my heart that I know will help my clients get noticed and bring them success. I hope you enjoy the new site and please leave your comments and feedback and of course hire me for some design work.
